Reiki provides major health benefits. It is used in many hosptials and cancer centers. There are also Reiki Practioners like myself who offer it in private practice. Reiki is not a religion, although its orgins are spiriutal. ONe does not have to change one's belief for Reiki to work. For Reiki energy to work, you must establish an intention of what you would like the energy to do for you. When you set an intention the treatment will address that specific need. Reiki can help and benefit all including children, petsand plants. This gift of increased energy and vitality is abailable to all.

When someone  is diagnosed  with a  chronic or life threatening illness, medical professionals are limited  in what they can offer.  In such life situations,  it's not unusual to feel abandoned and hopeless.

If you are a loved one is suffering with a chronic health problem like arthritis, fybromyalgia, or migrains, you know what I mean.

That's why I started  offering Reiki  to my clients who suffer with chronic  pain  problems.

Reiki is an non-invasive stress management  technique  that promotes relaxation and healing to the body, mind, and  spirit.    Reiki is believed to have been around since ancient times.  In fact, many people believe that Reiki  originated from the healing system that Jesus used.

Reiki works in conjunction with all forms of medical and psychological care, including drugs, surgery, physical therapy, chemotherapy, psychotherapy or any method of alternative care and will improve the results.

As a complementary therapy, Reiki is not a substitute for medical or psychological care; and patients receiving Reiki are always urged to consult, receive treatment, and follow their doctor's advice.

While Reiki is  used to help individuals suffering with pain or chronic illness, Reiki can also be used  by all people seeking a method to relieve everyday stress.  It's beneificial to adults, children, and even pets.   Reiki is truely amazing.

Dr. Makao UsuiReiki as we know it today came from Japan, and Dr. Makao Usui is credited with rediscovering this powerful healing  method during  a 21 day fast on Mr. Kurana.  He began teaching it in the 1920's with Dr. Chujiro Hayashi, and It was brought to the west by Hawayo Takato who was born in Hawii  from Japanese parents.

Reiki (pronounced Ray key) is a combination of two Japanese words rei and ki meaning universal life energy. During a Reiki healing session, the practioner serves as a vessel for this life energy which flows through his hands to those parts of the person receiving the treatment.

Reiki is presently being used in many major hospitals and cancer centers throughout the world and also  by  many certified  practioners in private practice.

The Reiki practitioner will usually start at the head then work through 15 different body positions. Reiki practioners are also trained to find energy blockages with their hands through a method called Byosen Scanning. You will be asked to lay down on a massage table, couch, or bed while remaining fully clothed,  except for shoes.  You may also be asked to remove any jewelry  prior to the session, so consider leaving these at home.

During  the Reiki session the practitioner places his hands on  or over different parts of  your body.  Some practionioners follow a predetermined sequence of hand placements, allowing their hands to rest on a position for 2 to 5 minutes before moving on to the next. The practitioner may also freely move his hands in no particular order to those areas that he feel needs Reiki healing energy  the most.

The whole treatment usually last between 45 and 90 minutes.

Receiving a reiki treatment is a wonderful, personal experience.  While everyone is different, the most common experience is a feeling of deep relaxation.  Some people become so relaxed, they may actually drift  to sleep during the session.  Others report  having visions or seeing colors or lights.  Others report floating out of body and other mystical experiences.

Regardless of the experience, a reiki treatment helps resolve feelings of stress and worry, as well as energize and help rejuvenate the body, mind, and spirit. It encourages one to let go of all tension, anxiety, fear or other negative feellings and fosters a sense of peace and well being.

Reiki can never cause you harm and always  works to bring about positive changes.

However, sometimes a person can become emotional  during a Reiki treatment as past hurts and traumas are released.  Somtimes a person may also experience  mild stomach discomfort or experience a  headache as toxins that  have been stored and the body are released from one's systems.

The body is being cleansed as part of the healing process so this is conisdered a good sign.

The benefits a person receives from a Reiki treatment is dependent upon the particularly problem the client requests help for. Yet as you can see from the list below the beneifits are extensive.

  • Creates deep relaxation and aids the body to release stress and tension.
  • Aids the body's self-healing abilities.
